PADI Rescue Certification for our staff

Scuba diving South Lombok this week we have also been working on our staff’s scuba certification and been completing the PADI rescue course for some of our staff.

Have a look at our Facebook page and you can find a photo of me, in the background with my handsome helper Munahir along with the 3 pupils in the front, appearing a bit worn out from all of the rescue exercises. It has also been a challenging week for the trainees, being put all the way through their rescue skills and scenarios. Now, at this point, we will send all of them over to Nusa Lembongan for the subsequent portion of their training program. Best of luck guys and then we'll see you soon and dive the southern Gilis together again.

We again enjoyed some awesome South Lombok diving this week with Romero and Sebastian. The two fellows were really lucky and our southern Gili dive sites offered them an awful lot of cool stuff like the pygmy sea horses, painted frog fish, cuttle fish, nudibranches, octopus, double ended pipe fish, millipedes, turtles and crazy much more.

Also an “wow” awesome week for me personally since I experienced my very first earth quake. Not a major one, but still good enough and I sat there being fascinated whilst everybody else jumped outside. Very well I now do understand what to do for the next time. Apart from this, great weather yet again while diving the southern Gilis and a lot of sun, terrific visibility, only very little current, so overall yet another awesome week scuba diving South Lombok.

Fantastic South Lombok Diving at House Reef

south lombok ghost pipe fish
Diving South Lombok at our house reef we’ve spotted a gorgeous white ornate ghost pipe fish. Those amazing little ghost pipe is such a beautiful creature and when the light is right it’s pretty much translucent, and the coolest thing is that it decided to hang around and show itself when we dive our South Lombok house reef.

We have been doing some exploration diving around the southern Gilis to see if we can add on to our multitude of South Lombok dive sites and it looks like we might have found a new dive site to add to the list. Our South Lombok guides came back from diving the southern Gilis after having explored a few dive sites with stories of excellent visibility, unbelievably colorful reefs, frog fish, octopus, cuttle fish, nudibranches, more ghost pipe fish, squid and other discoveries while diving the South Gilis. We still need to dive these new South Lombok dive sites some more and get our bearings straight, but I think soon we’ll be able to add on the our southern Gili dive sites.

Apart from exploring new South Lombok dive sites our guides and our crew have also been doing some training, which is always good for some fun and good laughs. We’ve been brushing up on our crew’s English skills, my Bahasa, some dive theory, and pretty much everything in-between. Diving here in South Lombok we’re actually quite lucky to have such a motivated, fun and enthusiastic crew, but not only that, in general they’re just plain a awesome team.

Have had very little rain to no rain this week and the visibility is stable at around 20m. Hardly any current with no waves have been making it great South Lombok diving.

A Elusive Dugong While Diving South Gilis

diving south gilis nudibranch
We discovered a wealth of the remarkable Ornate Ghost Pipefish while diving the southern Gilis this week. Miranda and John came out with us to dive the South Lombok dive sites and really enjoyed their dives around the South Gilis. They spotted the gorgeous Ornate Ghost Pipefish hiding within some feather stars, and also spotted a number of turtles, nudibranchs, Cuttle fish as well as a whole range of shrimps.

Also Petra join us to dive South Lombok this week came back with a huge smile after diving our South Lombok dive sites. Petra spotted a remarkably delightful Pygmy seahorse, 2 giant moray eels, some lionfish, a Indian ocean Walkman, and of course some turtles, but also got the chance to play within a huge school of sardines at our southern Gili Dive site “The Harbor”.

Our boats crew again have been spotting our elusive dugong swimming on the surface at our South Lombok dive site “The Sands” while we were diving down below, unfortunately we haven’t run into it yet while underwater. Let’s keep our fingers crossed, hopefully sooner or later we will be lucky enough and spot the incredible animal while on our dive.

Diving South Lombok this week the weather has been hot, but we did have one day with rain for a couple of hours. The water has been nice, calm with visibility around 20m and the temperature is steadily around 28 degrees. A little bit of mild current going on, but no waves and South Lombok diving at its best.

Stunning White Leaf Scorpion Fish whili diving Southern Gilis

This week we experienced some beautiful South Lombok diving with a stunning white Leaf Scorpion fish making an appearance. Its recently been a little rainy around the southern Gilis, however everyone is still very much enjoying great southern Gilis diving as well as plenty of laughs on the way.

This week we just had Paul joining us to explore our southern dive sites, unfortunately his wife wasn’t well enough to join. We experienced a fantastic South Lombok diving with lots of awesome marine life around the southern Gils, such as White tip reef sharks, leaf scorpion fish, Nudibranches, Shrimps, Crabs a lot more. Paul was absolutely delighted after his dive and regrets waiting with the diving the southern Gilis until the final day. Actually he said that he would have loved to do much more South Lombok diving and also that he would be back to South Lombok in the very near future.

We needed to do some routine maintenance on our boats, and me along with our South Lombok crew enjoyed some good fun this week digging holes and dragging our boat out of the water. Then we made a day of it with many laughs and a lunch BBQ on the beach. A tough day’s work yet, as usual, the boys made it fun and no one felt really like they had worked at all.

Still a bit rainy around the southern Gilis this week, nevertheless it’s hot and the visibility iaround the southern Gili dive sites is keeping at around 15 meters with nice warm water at 28 degrees C. We certainly have spotted a whole lot this week while diving South Lombok, inclusive of trevally, Tuna, Ornate Ghost pipe fish, Painted Frog fish, Hawks Bill Turtles, Peacock Mantis Shrimp and more.

Join Scuba Divers all over the world for the 2nd yearly PADI Women's Dive Day

Anticipation reigns while the groundwork is underway for PADI Women’s Dive Day 2016, PADI’s 2nd yearly celebration of women in scuba diving, happening on 16 July 2016. This celebration acknowledges women’s contributions to scuba diving all through historical past as well as presents perfect opportunity for even more women to get into the sport of scuba diving.

The basis was laid a year ago where scuba divers from across the world got connected to celebrate PADI’s very first Women’s Dive Day – and also created history along the way! The event assembled in excess of 6,000 scuba divers from 65 nations on all continents – all of taking part in over 335 special events. Today, plans are underway to achieve it for a second time on 16 July 2016 – don’t miss the most awesome celebrations of the year!

Women Icons as well as Legends
Even though scuba diving might be inaccurately thought of as a “man’s sport”, PADI historical past is filled with women scuba diving icons as well as legends who laid the path for today’s scuba divers of either genders, with lots of these icons being a part of last year’s events. For instance, shark authority as well as PADI Course Director Cristina Zenato, who formulated the PADI Caribbean Reef Shark Awareness Distinctive Specialty program and also started off a campaign that led to the total protection for any shark species in the Bahamas, took part by featuring a unique shark dive for qualified women scuba divers as well as an exclusive Discover Scuba® Diving day for women to let them have the possibility to try out scuba diving.

A different iconic individual was Sarah Ward, expert archaeologist and also tutor for the Australian Institute of Maritime Archaeology. Sarah, who dives on-the-job worldwide, states that without her PADI certifications she wouldn’t be in a position to undertake in that which she is in love with. Sarah took part in the 2015 Women’s Dive Day by teaming with an area PADI Dive Shop in Australia for a dive on Long Reef in Sydney’s Northern Beaches together with an all-day seaside barbeque.

On 16 July 2016, PADI Dive Centers and Resorts, dive clubs, as well as other institutions will provide numerous female-friendly dives and events, which range from shark dives to beach cleanups to distinctive speaker engagements. Several PADI Dive Shops will as well provide the chance to try out scuba diving with the PADI Discover Scuba® Diving program. Other ones are going to feature PADI ReActivate™, which provides lapsed scuba divers the possibility to freshen up their scuba skills, and re-discover the hobby they love as well as reactivate their scuba diving certifications!

South Lombok Scuba Diving for DiveZone Staff

scuba diving south lombok gili renggit
Scuba Diving South Lombok it's been a training week here in southern Lombok with a few of the brand new Admin arriving down from up north. The 3 of which made their debut for a DSD with me on Gili Renggit and we experienced a terrific time. Initially there was a lot of flapping along with a couple of frightened faces however after we were able to get down they enjoyed our South Lombok dive site so much that it turned out quite hard to get them to stop diving Gili Renggit.

Also this week we were diving South Gilis with Hubert and Clark, from New Zealand, who absolutely enjoyed their time diving South Lombok with us as well as cherished the opportunity to discover examples of the remarkable marine life we find diving the South Gilis, such as the giant frog fish, orang-utan crab, cuttle fish, turtles and loads more.

Also a huge congrats and welcome to the club for Silke, she joins us in the world of scuba diving after finishing his PADI Open Water Course. We as well congratulate Kus our junior South Lombok dive guide who has as of now concluded his training and now is a full-fledged South Lombok dive guide.

It has been a fantastic week scuba diving South Lombok, the weather is nice despite the fact that we have still been having some rain, looking forward to more South Lombok scuba diving fun next week.

A lot of lion fish while diving South Lombok

For the moment we are seeing a lot of lion fish while diving South Lombok, and this week we had a whole lot of dive trips around the southern Gilis and it appears the lionfish are out there in force. Around our southern Gili dive sites we have now found adults, juveniles as well as plenty of different varieties. Apart from this it has been a fast paced week in South Lombok with plenty of diving around the southern Gilis as well as a snorkeling trip with a class from Beijing.

I want to say a huge congrats to Stephen who this week finished his PADI Open Water Course as well as passed his scuba certification with flying colours. Stephen left us extremely happy and also sharing with us just how he can’t wait to return to scuba dive South Lombok again and maybe to dive Belongas to discover the hammer heads. Also while diving the southern Gilis this week enjoyed showing our South Lombok dive sites to our visitors from Malaysia and also Wong from Singapore joined us for a bit of scuba diving around the southern Gilis. In spite of the rain we experienced some very cool South Lombok diving and remained in high spirits. You know the saying, “if you’re going to get wet, you may as well go diving”. Well, we did and every one came back from diving the southern Gilis with plenty of stories of lion fish, nudibranches, shrimps, Crabs, Cuttle fish, Octapus, turtles, ornate ghost pipe fish, frog fish as well as a few sturdy currents around the dive sites which ended up in blockbuster drift dives.

Around our South Lombok dive sites it was a little rainy this week, however this didn’t stop us from getting in some excellent South Lombok diving, in fact the visibility i was still around 20 meters and we really seen a lot. The water temp is 28 degrees C and also we've had a couple of wavy days however nothing at all disturbing our scuba diving around the southern Gilis
