Great rainy season diving while diving the southern Gili Islands...

This week in South Lombok we had some lovely dives with a beautiful white Leaf Scorpion fish making an appearance.Its been  a little rainy this week in South Lombok but we are still having some great dives and lots of laughs along the way.

We had an amazing dive with lots of sightings of some amazing marine life including White tip reef sharks,leaf scorpion fish, Nudibranches, Shrimps, Crabs and many more. Johnas was very happy after his dive and regrets leaving the diving until the last day as he said he would have loved to do more and has said that he will be back very soon.

 

This time of near is when we start the maintenance on our boats. Me and the boys here at DiveZone had fun this week digging holes and pulling our big boat out of the water and we made a day of it with lots of laughs and lunch on the beach, a hard days work but as always the boys made it fun and no one felt like they had worked at all.

 


As i said its been a little rainy this week but of course its still hot and this visibility is holding around 15 meters with a few waves and lovly warm water at 28 degrees C. We have seen a lot this week including  trevally, Tuna, Ornate Ghost pipe fish, Painted Frog fish, Hawks Bill Turtles, Peacock Mantis Shrimp and loads more.

Great vis and warm water PADI Course at the Southern Gilis

Training in thebeautiful waters of south Lombok and what a place to learn with our sloping reefs and amazing corals and abundence of marine life. This week in Sekotong the waters have been clear and the fish are showing there beautiful colours, we have had many sightings including a whole range of nudibranches, braud clubed cuttle fish, common octapus, skeloton shrimp, hawks bill turtles, moray eels, clear cleaner shrimps, giant frog fish.

  

This week we had a German couple here doing there open water course and we had an amazing  time under water with practicing skills, finding fish and floating about.On our surface breaks we had a good laugh with the dive guides who also joind us on the boat sharpening there skills and playing games like jumping and thowing each other off the boat.I would just like to say a big congratulations and welcome them in to the diving world.

  

Its been a big week for training with pauline and valentino also doing there open water course and a big congratulations goes to them to for completing it. Pauline, valentino and my self had an amazing experience on one dive with a very active Cuttle fish who showed us every colour under the sun and then went on to give us a demonstration of his hunting skills along with a whole host of unbelievable marine life.

Weather has been really hot this week with 20 meters visibility and warm calm waters.

Scuba diving Sekotong - relaxed reef diving and big macro fun!

From our Senggigi dive shop we also do daily trip to our dive sites around the southern Gilis. We leave the Senggigi area around 7am and the 1.5-hour trip takes you on a scenic drive through Lombok. Then you can dive into the diverse underwater world around the bay of Sekotong. The southern Gilis offer relaxed diving and plentiful macro life, As the sea is fairly shallow, visibility is never crystal clear but this doesn’t affect the caliber of the dive sites. The reefs are full of bright soft corals and colorful crinoids, which harbor an amazing variety of rare marine life, including Ghost Pipe Fish, Leaf Fish, Pygmy seahorses and much more.

    

The dive sites reflect a good cross-section of what Indonesia has to offer. One can be fascinated by turtles, white tip reef sharks, cuttlefish, moray eels and many more.
